Thanks for letting me join your blog (I feel so cool now). I am training for the NYC marathon in November. This is my second marathon and I always have pain in my left knee from about 8 miles and on. I have tried the glucosamine supplements, but they didn't work. Now I am trying the strap that sits under your knee. Supposedly that will help. Have any of you tried it? Any other suggestions?
Happy Running,
Alex

Welcome Alex--thanks for joining in. I have used those knee bands before, but only as temporary relief in the weeks leading up to big season races. In the end, I had to take time off and heal the injury. If you give me some more specific info, I can try to help you figure out what it may be. Where does your knee hurt and what does the hurt feel like (general allover, sharp pinching, bad enough to stop, etc)?
Oh! Oh this is SO COOL!
Erin et al, I'm so sorry for writing NOTHING, and Alex, how awesome that you ran across (HA!) this wonderful community of runners!
I've used the knee straps in the past, too, and have had good luck with them for patella tendonitis, but I'm not sure if that's what you're dealing with....
On knee straps, that exact tendonitis is what I've used them for. Funny.
And Katie, the previous post was in no way a jab. There's lots of authors :-) Just write when you're ready.
